2 øko-planter sviner mindre end én Organic Eprints
Kokkedal, Hanne.

Biogas nutrient management in organic cropping - not only a nitrogen issue Organic Eprints
Gunnarsson, A.; Asp, H..
Nutrient imbalance, mainly due to low K and high Ca and/or Mg concentrations, was a plausible explanation for low growth response to digestate fertilisation by beetroot following harvested grass-clover biogas ley. To derive the full benefit of a transition to a biogas nutrient management (BG) system, extra nutrients except for N may need to be added, especially if digestate supply is divided between many crop positions in the rotation. This is probably of extra importance on sandy soils such as that used in this experiment.

Can new organic cropping systems produce vegetables with lower use of resources and losses of nitrate? Organic Eprints
Kristensen, Hanne L.; Xie, Yue; Bavec, F.; von Fragstein, Peter; Campanelli, Gabriele; Ortolani, Livia; Canali, Stefano.
To secure a sustainable production of plant foods for the future, there is a need to develop new cropping systems. These systems should have reduced needs of external resources and reduced environmental impact, while product yields are maintained at high level. Therefore, field trials were performed in Italy, Slovenia, Germany and Denmark with the aim to study new organic cropping systems for production of vegetable crops; and the systems’ effect on labor and energy consumption and the risk of losing nitrate to the water environment. The cropping systems included an in-season living mulch to exploit ecosystem services by attracting beneficial insects, suppressing weeds, and taking up excess nitrogen during production of two high-value crops of leek and...

Complementary root systems in organic intercropping of vegetables Organic Eprints
Xie, Yue; Kristensen, Hanne L..
The deep root system of the intercrop dyers woad complemented the shallow root system of leek without jeopardizing leek yields. These results show perspectives for reduction of nitrate leaching from leek production.

Dyrkning af flere afgrøder sammen reducerer kvælstoftabet til vandmiljøet i økologisk grønsagsdyrkning Organic Eprints
Yue, Xie; Kristensen, Hanne L..

An agrosystems trial in the south of Germany (near Munich) was established in 2009/2010 to quantify, analyze and model the effects of four organic and two non-organic agricultural systems on the yields, the soil and the environmental footprint. The differential und influential factors between the systems are: crop rotation, harvest index, plant protection and fertilization. The first results in the years 2011-2013 have shown significant differences in the crop yield (winter wheat) and the crop rotation yield (grain units) between organic and conventional systems and within this groups. The energy efficiency in plant production of organic systems with organic manure (digestate and slurry) are in the average of three years almost double as high as organic...

Nitrogen management in organic cauliflower Organic Eprints
Kristensen, Hanne L..
Consumers expect that the production of organic vegetables is less harmful to the environment compared to conventional vegetable cropping. However, vegetables with a high nitrogen demand such as cauliflower may cause intensive leaching of nitrate to natural waters in conventional as well as in organic production. In addition, organic growers face difficulties in providing adequate amounts of organic fertiliser in order to attain high yields due to the scarcity of organic livestock manure. In organic cropping systems, the use of an in-season living mulch may decrease the need for fertiliser and the risk of nitrate leaching. It may also improve nitrogen nutrition for next season’s crop. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of growing an...

Terra preta de índio (TPI) Anthropogenic Dark Earth. Organic Eprints
Devide, Antonio Carlos Pries.
